Tredyffrin Township is seeking to fill the position of Building Inspector. The Building Inspector is a supervisory, technical and administrative position responsible for performing plan reviews and inspections, responding to complaints, and ensuring compliance with the PA Uniformed Construction Code and Township ordinances.

The Building Inspector will be involved in the training of employees who are processing applications, plan reviews, permits, inspections, and enforcement. The position with manage the process for construction permits, occupancy permit plan reviews, and inspections; attends Zoning and Hearing Board meetings from time to time; assures a completion of reports; serves as staff liaison to the ICC Board of Appeals; serves as or supervises the Township Fire Marshall; serves as Deputy Zoning Officer.

This position will review and evaluate building plans; issue construction and occupancy permits; perform on-site inspections; explains, interprets, and provides guidance regarding codes; maintain clear records; issues violations notices; coordinates efforts with police, planning, building and related departments to address issues.

Qualifications for this position include:

•  High School diploma, G.E.D or trade school graduate.

•  Two years of technical or college training in a construction field.

•  Five years of general construction/inspection experience.

•  Additional years of experience can substitute for education.

•  Valid driver’s license.

•  Certifications through Level 2 (listed in job description).
